Why is that?
Because die-cast molds operate under extremely demanding conditions: molten aluminum approaches 700°C, injected into the mold cavity at high speeds of tens of meters per second, filling and solidifying in fractions of a second. With every cycle, the mold surface endures intense thermal shock, high-speed erosion, and repeated thermal fatigue. A single mold must produce tens of thousands—or even over a hundred thousand—shots under such conditions, while consistently delivering parts with stable dimensions, dense internal structures, and acceptable surface quality. This demands comprehensive mastery of mold design, material selection, machining, and thermal management.

Haina Precision focuses its technical expertise on three core dimensions of die-cast mold development:
1. Thermal Balance Control
Heat concentrates during cavity filling—if the cooling system is poorly designed, localized overheating can cause soldering, thermal cracking, and even shrinkage porosity. Over-cooling, on the other hand, compromises fill flow characteristics. Haina's approach employs mold flow analysis software to simulate and optimize cooling channel layouts during the design phase, pinpointing the optimal thermal balance point. Combined with 3D-printed conformal cooling channels, this ensures more uniform cooling, shortening cycle times and reducing thermal stress deformation.
2. Venting and Vacuum Systems
Porosity is the most common internal defect in die castings, caused by gas entrapment during high-speed filling. Haina utilizes high-vacuum die casting technology, with mold sealing structures that consistently maintain cavity vacuum levels below 50mbar. This fundamentally minimizes porosity defects, enhancing the mechanical properties and density of castings.
3. Mold Life Management
Given the considerable investment required for a die-cast mold, longer service life directly lowers per-part costs. Haina follows established protocols for steel selection, heat treatment, and surface finishing, combined with properly designed gating and overflow systems and routine maintenance schedules. Our goal is to extend the stable service life of large integrated die-cast molds to 80,000–100,000 shots.
