In the mold industry, there is a widely circulated saying: "Molds are designed, not manufactured." This statement reveals a core truth - 80% of the success or failure of molds is determined at the design stage. And DFM (Design for Manufacturability) is precisely the key link that determines this 80%.
So, why choose Haina for DFM? The answer is simple: DFM is not a report, but an engineering methodology that requires the support of a complete chain of capabilities. And we happen to have this entire chain.
I. The essence of DFM: Not "finding faults", but "building bridges"
The true DFM is to establish a two-way communication bridge among product design, mold design, and injection molding production. It is to achieve smooth mold opening, stable mass production, and cost control without changing the product's function and appearance by fine-tuning the structure, optimizing the parting line, and adjusting the slope.
To achieve this, DFM engineers must possess three levels of vision:
• Understand product design (understand functional requirements, and do not blindly modify the drawing)
• Proficient in mold structure (know what can be done, what is difficult to do, and what cannot be done)
• Understand injection molding process (predict potential risks such as warping, shrinkage, and trapped air)
These three visions are all indispensable. And Haina has all of them.
II. The foundation for our DFM work: One-stop generation service
Many companies in the market can also produce DFM reports, but the difference lies in this: their DFM is based on "imagination", while ours is based on "capability".
Because we have our own mold workshop, our own CNC and EDM equipment, our own testing center, and our own injection molding workshop. This means that when we conduct DFM reviews, every word we say has people, equipment, and processes to fulfill it.
1. Own mold workshop: The DFM suggestions are implemented
DFM reports often propose such suggestions: "This part requires a slider structure on the mold" or "It is recommended to use an insert design here". If you find a design company without a mold workshop, these suggestions are just empty talk - whether they can be processed, how much the cost will increase, and how many days the project will be delayed, they don't know.
But we ourselves are involved in mold production. Our DFM engineers and the mold design, programming, and processing teams are all under the same roof. When a suggestion is proposed, the processing workers can immediately respond: "This can be done, the project will take two more days" or "It is recommended to change the plan, this will be more cost-effective". DFM is not "I think", but "We can".

2. Own CNC and EDM: Complex structures are not limited
Our CNC workshop is equipped with high-speed machining centers, capable of processing complex three-dimensional surfaces and fine features; EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) can handle deep and narrow areas that the tool cannot reach, such as deep ribs and small exhaust grooves.
This means that when doing DFM, we will not be forced to abandon better mold structure solutions because "it cannot be processed". Our capability boundaries are the source of the confidence for DFM suggestions.

3. Own testing center
Another important function of DFM is to identify whether the size tolerances in the product drawings are reasonable and whether they match the mold processing capabilities. Haisan has its own testing center, equipped with three-coordinate measuring instruments, projectors, roughness meters, etc.
When evaluating whether a tolerance is "achievable", we base it on our actual processing and testing historical data. Behind each DFM report is real data support.

4. Custom batch injection molding: Final verification of DFM
This is the most crucial point. Many design companies and mold manufacturing plants are separate - design is for design, processing is for processing, and injection molding is for another company. When there are problems with injection molding, no one can tell exactly whether it's a design issue, a mold issue, or a process issue.

However, choosing Haisan, none of these are problems. After the mold is completed, it is directly sent to our own injection molding machine for trial molding and mass production. The DFM engineer can see for themselves how their suggestions are implemented on the injection molding machine - has the shrinkage been solved? Has warping been controlled? Has demolding been smooth?
This "design - manufacturing - injection molding" closed-loop feedback is the fastest way to enhance DFM capabilities. Each trial molding is an inspection and iteration of the DFM report. We are not writing reports; we are using the product to verify the reports.
We engage in DFM not because we are good at writing reports, but because we have the ability to turn every word in the report into reality on CNC, EDM, and injection molding machines.
Choosing us for DFM, you won't get a few dozen-page PDF document. Instead, you'll receive a complete set of engineering guarantees from design to mass production.
